    Walk to End HIV Sunday, September 30, 2018 8:00 am - Noon

    What: The Walk to End HIV presented by Chevron is a 2 mile fundraising walk and fun run that aims to raise awareness for all the individuals and families who have been affected by HIV/AIDS in the New Orleans area. Every year, hundreds of participants come together at Crescent Park to support those living with HIV/AIDS and remember those we have lost. Over the past 29 years, they have raised more than 6.5 million dollars for HIV and AIDS services and have collectively walked to the moon and back! 

    Where: The event takes place at Crescent Park, rain or shine!

    When: Sunday, September 30th Call Time: 8:00am, Dance/Warm Up 9:00. The Walk itself begins at 10:00 a.m.

    Who: Open to all Disco Amigos performers and support members. 

    Uniforms:

    Guys: red button up shirt, black vest, black disco pants, shoes (black, red and/or silver only), and accoutrement (sash, headwear, etc.) 

    Gals: Silver disco dress, shoes (black, red and/or silver only), and accoutrements. 

    Performances:

    We will perform On the Radio for the kick off of the event. We will then go on to the finish line to Boogie/Cheer on runners as they complete the race. Bands include Big 6 Brass Band and Big Freedia!

    2018 Buddy Walk

     

    What:

    The Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans Buddy Walk is a family fun event and fundraiser that celebrates individuals with Down syndrome. There will be a jambalaya cook-off, live music, games, crafts, snacks, and much more.

    Where:

    Baby Cakes Field, 6100 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70003

    Free parking available.  

    When:

    Saturday October 6th;  Call Time: 9:00am - Walk behind at 11am. End time is 3pm. 

    Who:

    Calling all performers and support to cheer on the walkers and have a good time! .

    Performers Uniforms:

    Guys - red button up shirt, black vest, black disco pants and accoutrements (sash, headwear, etc.)

    Gals - Silver disco dress and accoutrements

    Non-performing Volunteers - Disco Amigo's t-shirt and shorts, pants, or skirt OR uniform as described above.  

    Performances:

    Warm-up line dances: Night Fever and Fire Ball. Performance dance: Blame it on the Boogie

    Lots of parking around the stadium. The event itself is in the parking lot between the stadium and the Jefferson Performing Arts Center.

    2018 Crescent City Farmers Market Backyard BBQ

     

    What:

    CCFM Backyard Barbecue is the Fall 2018 fundraiser for the farmers market. All proceeds benefit CCFM, a non-profit, in support of local farmers, fishers, small business food producers, and growth of our regional food economy. 

    A performance dance at the kick off, line dances with audience participation during the band’s break, and a potential soul train at the end of the event as guests are exiting.

    Where:

    Central City BBQ, 1201 S. Rampart, NOLA 70113

    When:

    Sunday October 7, 2018 from 4-7pm

    Call Time: 3:00pm  

    Who:

    We are looking for 14 solid performers.

    Performers Uniforms:

    Guys - red button up shirt, black vest, black disco pants and accoutrements (sash, headwear, etc.)

    Gals - Silver disco dress and accoutrements 

    Performances:

    Shack Up for Performance Dance. Line Dances TBD During Band Breaks

    What:

    The Deutsches Haus Oktoberfest 2018.  We will be performing (on 2 nights!) for the crowd AND volunteering at stations after our performance. This sign up is for Friday October 12th, 2018.

    For this event, a member can sign up to be either a performer and volunteer OR to be a volunteer only.

    We will provide the list of Volunteers to the Haus directly so no need to sign up on their site.  

    When:

    Call time is 6:30 pm

    We will perform around 7:30 pm between the 2 bands in front of the stage.  We will then volunteer until Close of the event (approx Midnight).

    Volunteers are needed for various areas throughout the event. Members who have Responsible Server Permits are eligible to work in alcoholic drink service positions.

    Please note:  We will collect your volunteer area preference.  We cannot guarantee that will be the area that you work.  The Deutsches Haus volunteer manager will make that final determination.

    Oktoberfest is held Fridays and Saturdays, October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20.  Please feel free to sign up on your own for other volunteer positions throughout this year's Fest. Click here to sign up of other weekends. We support our Deutsches Haus!
