    5th Annual Mudbug March to Stomp Out Pulminary Hypertension

    What: Our job is to warm up the walkers with a couple of line dances. We will then lead the walkers with music and disco cheer. The walk is around the Peristyle. This event is for YOU if you are not an early morning person. We need 8-10 Amigos for this event.

    When: Sunday, March 31. Call time is 9:00am

    Girls on the Run 5k

    What: We will cheer on the girls as they complete a 5k and perform after the race.

    Where: Audubon Park, Shelter #10, near Newman Bandstand

    When: Saturday, April 6. Call time is 6:45 AM. The event is from 7:45AM-10:30AM.

    Who: All performers and discotistas are welcome to participate


    After the warm up at the Newman Bandstand (7:45 AM), the Disco Amigos will Second Line with all the runners to encourage them to go to the Start Line. Then we will be positioned at one of the mile markers to cheer on the girls and their running buddies. Once the race is completed, we will perform Fantastic Voyage (in place), Night Fever, and (maybe if there is time) Fireball at the Newman Bandstand.

    The theme is "Spring Across The Finish Line" so feel free to accessorize in whatever “Spring” related accoutrements you have.

    VERY IMPORTANT!! For liability reasons we need everyone to go to the link below and sign up as a volunteer. Please be sure to use the “Category” drop down menu and look for “Dance Krewe-Disco Amigos”. Then please fill out the form.

    Additional Info: There will be coffee and breakfast snacks to wake us up! Be sure to check in at the Volunteer Table when you arrive and get your GOTR Thank You Gift. Parking is available near the Newman Bandstand and also across the street at the Zoo.

    Girls on the Run (GOTR) is non-profit organization that educates, inspires, and empowers young girls in New Orleans to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. By harnessing the power of running, GOTR helps 3rd-8th grade girls develop the social and emotional tools to cope with the challenges of adolescence. The season culminates with a 5k as a way to celebrate the girls' completion of the program.

    This is the 41st annual Do Dah Day parade and festival. The biggest fundraiser for the Great Birmingham Humane Society and other animal rescue centers.

    We will line up for the parade near the corner of Highland Ave and 33rd St. South.

    Attendance is open for all performers, disco train and support. There is no limit on the number of performers or support.


    Amigos Attire: Full Uniform for both women and men. Pet related accessories/accoutrements, if desired.

    This year the festival will be held in Rhodes Park only. The parade route is the same, just ending a tiny bit sooner. The amigos will be an entry in the parade and also do two sets of performances in the park. We will finish earlier this year for those who want to enjoy the festival or go explore Birmingham. Social events on Friday night and Saturday are still TBD. There will be some limited accommodations available for New Orleans members who want to drive up and join us. Social events and accommodation details will go out in separate announcements and emails. Continue to check this posting for potential updates
